Mixtapes should always be mixed, dropping songs in, letting them fade out ithat is not what a mixtape should be. Yelling over the songs, gunshots and
shotgun sounds are not mixtape transitions. Real DJs mix their mixtapes, anything else is just a compilation of songs and not a mixtape.
Mixtapes are small moments in time that capture a DJs level of commitment , ability and musical taste at the moment the mixtapes are created.
Mixtapes preserve that particular moment of time for eternity in a classic mixtape format so others may listen to and share in the DJs experience.
Mixtapes also provide DJs with a means to track their own progress as a DJ, for as the DJ evolves so do their mixtapes.
Like the rings on a tree a DJs growth can be measured in the progress, ability and maturity the DJ gains between each mixtape release.
Likewise you can compare the mixtapes of different DJs and use their mixtapes as a means of measuring each DJs overall ability.
